New Noise Exposure Regulations, published under the Occupational Health and Safety Act in March 2025, come into effect on 5 September 2026, replacing the country's previous Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Regulations. The Department of Employment and Labour says the amended regulations are intended to strengthen a proactive approach to eliminating or mitigating workplace noise and, in doing so, improve quality of life for employees exposed to noise.
The new framework introduces a noise action level of 82 dBA over an eight-hour working day, while retaining a noise-rating limit of 85 dBA for occupational exposure.
